Peninsula Strikers has a place for senior players who want to test themselves, keep developing and be part of a proud football club.
Based at Centenary Park in Frankston North, our senior men’s program brings together our Football Victoria State League first team and reserves with our Greater Melbourne Soccer Association team. Together, they provide different levels of competition, a clear pathway into senior football and opportunities for experienced players, emerging talent and players who simply want to enjoy serious football in a strong club environment.

Our senior men’s teams
FV State League 2 South-East
Our first team competes in Football Victoria’s Men’s State League 2 South-East competition.
This is the club’s leading senior men’s side and the standard every player in the program can aspire to reach. Training and match preparation are built around hard work, accountability, fitness and an attacking style of football.
The goal is clear: compete at the top end of State League 2 and earn promotion to State League 1.
FV State League 2 Reserves
The reserves are an essential part of the senior program—not a separate team and not simply a place to make up numbers.
The side gives developing players regular senior football, helps first-team players regain match fitness and creates genuine competition for places.
The reserves finished third in both 2024 and 2025, scoring 70 league goals in 2025 while continuing to promote players into the senior squad.
GMSA Men’s Division 1
Our additional open-age men’s team competes in GMSA Men’s Division 1. The Greater Melbourne Soccer Association continues the Bayside Football Association competition under the name adopted in 2026.
The team suits players balancing football with work or family, younger players entering senior competition, former State League players and late developers working towards the FV squads.
The 2025 Bayside squad was coached by Strikers life member Rob Harrington. Where player numbers support it, the club also seeks to provide an Over 35s option through GMSA.
Coaching leadership
Ross Walliss
Ross joined Peninsula Strikers for the 2026 season as a UEFA B-licensed coach with a strong playing and coaching background. His football education included time in the Bournemouth youth system and a professional season with Southampton before moving to Australia.
His Australian playing career included Bentleigh Greens, Sunshine George Cross, Werribee, North Geelong and Altona City. Ross wants Strikers to play confident, attractive football built on strong fundamentals, clear roles and promotion ambition.
Ben Sharland
Ben joined Peninsula Strikers as senior assistant coach to Ross Walliss after Stephen Duffy stepped down from the co-coaching role.
Ben works alongside Ross in the preparation and development of the senior squad, helping maintain clear standards across training and match day.
Recent coaching transition
Scott Morrison led the first team from 2023 to 2025 after initially being appointed alongside Donn Delaney. Morrison guided the club to fifth in 2023 and consecutive third-place finishes in 2024 and 2025. Ross Walliss and Stephen Duffy were announced as co-coaches for 2026 before Duffy stepped down and Ben Sharland joined as Walliss’s senior assistant.

Recent standouts
Riley Anderton
A captain, leader and defining player of this period. Anderton led the club’s league scoring in 2022 and 2023, shared the honour in 2024 and repeatedly delivered in major moments.
Andy McIntyre
A tough and respected defender who won the 2023 senior best and fairest. His reliability and leadership helped set the standards until his retirement at the end of 2024.
Steve Elliott
An experienced defender whose composure and competitiveness strongly influenced the squad. His 2024 best and fairest and Players’ Player double reflected his value to teammates and coaches.
Wayne “Buzzer” Gordon
A veteran presence and an important part of the midfield and club culture. His football knowledge, competitiveness and influence have been valuable through multiple promotion challenges.
Tom Wood
Wood added pace, physical presence and a genuine scoring threat. His 10 league goals in 2024 earned a share of the Golden Boot and helped deliver the club’s strongest State League 2 points total in many years.
Campbell Steedman
Steedman’s speed and direct attacking play were central to the 2025 promotion push. His 15 league goals made him the team’s leading scorer.
Cooper Andrews
A creative and technically gifted attacker who has contributed goals, assists and an ability to change games while remaining part of the senior group throughout the period.
One senior program, one pathway
We want junior players to see a genuine pathway into senior football. We want reserves players to know that strong performances will be rewarded. We want experienced senior players to help set the standard, and we want GMSA football to give more people the opportunity to represent the club.
