LOVE THE GAME Sporting Club Program Responsible Gambling Charter

RESPONSIBLE GAMBLING CHARTER CLUB COMMITMENT By signing this charter, we support separating ‘the game’ from gambling. We will ensure our club is a safe and healthy environment in relation to gambling. As a club, we understand the important role we play in the community in encouraging healthy lifestyles. We acknowledge that we have a responsibility to minimise any potential harm from gambling. We accept a shared responsibility for generating awareness of the risks associated with gambling and encouraging the community to love the game, not the odds. We are committed to minimising the exposure of young people to gambling activities and to gambling promotion. Club name Club representative Position Date Signature

This charter underpins the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation’s Sporting Club Program, supporting clubs to establish healthy and safe environments in relation to gambling. SEPARATING GAMBLING FROM SPORTING ACTIVITIES

• We will maintain a distinct separation between gambling and sporting activities.
• We will refrain from displaying sports betting or gambling promotional material in or around the club, including ground signage.
• We will refrain from partnering with betting operators or promoting gambling activities in any way.
• We will actively deter anyone under 18 years of age from participating in any form of gambling. PROMOTING THE PROGRAM Our club will actively promote the program to our players, club members, staff, family and friends, to ensure they are aware of the commitment we have made to providing a healthy and safe community setting in relation to gambling. This may include promotion across our social media channels and our website, in newsletters, and at club functions. OPERATION OF GAMING VENUES If we own and operate electronic gaming machines, we support the implementation of the Venue best practice guide in consultation with a Gambler’s Help venue support worker. INFORMATION AND SUPPORT SERVICES
• We will promote our local Gambler’s Help services, and form links with our local Gambler’s Help provider.
• If any player or member of our club community is concerned about their own or someone else’s gambling, we will make every effort to refer them to the appropriate help and support services available. CLUB REPRESENTATIVES All club representatives will act in a manner that is consistent with the values, behaviours and spirit of this charter.A HEALTHY AND SAFE CLUB ENVIRONMENT
• We will display signage and information provided by the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation in and around our club rooms.
• We will raise awareness about gambling issues in our community and the risk of gambling harm, and provide information about the range of resources and support services available through Gambler’s Help.
• We will nominate two ‘charter champions’ who will lead the implementation of the charter within our club, and who will act as ’go to’ people for members of the club community who have concerns about their own or someone else’s gambling. SAFER FUNDRAISING, FUNCTIONS AND PRIZES
• Where young people under 18 years of age are present, our club social and fundraising activities will not include any forms of gambling.
• Where possible, our club functions will be held in venues that don’t provide opportunities to gamble.
• Our club will not provide gambling incentives as player awards or prizes.
